Flush Trojan away

Posted by icm501 on January 24, 2007

QU servers and almost every Dell Latitude was infested. Trojan Flush attack probably busted the link. Spent the better half of the day at the help desk trying to be rid of the uninvited pest.

The US has the best higher education in the world. Something is missing here.

Karma

Posted by icm501 on January 17, 2007

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction -

We do something, and that action leaves an impression upon us. This impression governs or conditions our future action. And the sum total of all such impressions put together is grouped under one word ‘karma.’ Karma really means the effect of past impressions arising out of our own actions. Some old people regret not having used their youth properly. It was a time of absolute possibilities, infinite possibilities. There is a possibility of going up, there is a possibility of going down. Whenever one possibility exists, the other must exist – because where there is an up, there is a down. Where there is a left, there is a right. This is logic. If you have one possibility, automatically the other comes into being.

Have we chosen the right path?

random thoughts

Last month Maxi’s SL friend passed away. Many of you will remember the grand entrance that Maxi had made at Berkman Center in the gothic gown, it was a gift by him on the very first day of the new life. Needless to say the death was a blow, something ephemeral that one gets attached to will no longer be there on the contact list.

Andrew Hinton calls “the game layer” the merging of the physical and digital realities. This is going to make our real lives more like game lives, because we’re going to be immersed in data.” It is our real emotional selves in the virtual world. It makes us wonder what drives the GOr. Are they all messed up here and indulge in kinky RP in the metaverse. How about role reversal? Make collars for the “Masters”. A master claims, “We don’t hurt anyone, we don’t damage anyone, everyone’s consensual.”

RIGHT!

What do we make of our attachments in RL? Here we have shrinks to help us deal with issues, would we have cyber psychiatrists as well to sort through digital emotional problems. Or do the problems only manifest themselves in the physical being?

By the way students can pool some Lindens to create a Halavais classroom, so that Berkman needn’t be invaded again. Maybe SPhere can lend her roof for a class meeting. Or I could request my design guru to lend their avie services conference room.

WOw!

It was hot today. We in New England had our own tropical weather today. The skies were a gorgeous blue with fluffy white clouds scudding by, smiling people in shorts and T’s. I wore my erstwhile home T-shirt in celebration of the Indian summer.
